Dalam presentasi pagi tadi, Apple menyatakan bahwa mereka berniat untuk menjamah pasar smartphone yang lebih luas. Oleh karena itu selain iPhone Xs dan Xs Max, Apple juga merilis iPhone XR. iPhone yang menurut standar Apple harganya cukup terjangkau.

Desain dari iPhone XR sekilas tidak jauh berbeda dengan iPhone X maupun Xs. Namun jika diamati baik-baik akan ada banyak sekali perbedaannya. Pertama adalah warna. iPhone XR hadir dengan enam pilihan warna: White, Black, Blue, Coral, Yellow, dan (PRODUCT)Red. Kedua, iPhone XR hanya memiliki satu modul kamera saja. Yang ketiga, layar iPhone XR adalah LCD, bukan OLED. Apple menyebut layar tersebut Liquid Retina. Meskipun tidak memiliki teknologi 3D Touch, iPhone XR memiliki Heptic Touch layaknya touchpad MacBook Pro.

iPhone XR memiliki hampir semua fitur iPhone X termasuk teknologi FaceID. Kamera iPhone XR menggunakan lensa dan sensor baru dari Apple yang memiliki ukuran lebih besar dan lebih cepat. Fitur Dual-SIM juga dimiliki iPhone XR, namun untuk versi global salah satu SIM nya berbentuk eSIM yang baru didukung beberapa operator luar saja. Sedangkan versi Dual-SIM konvensional hanya tersedia di China.
