MIUI 10.1.1.0 update has been started rolling out to Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus in China. It is the same MIUI 10 update Xiaomi released to Redmi Note 5 Indian version few weeks ago.
The latest update for Redmi 5 Plus pops-up the version to MIUI 10.1.1.0.NEGCNFI and brings several new features including full-screen experience, AI machine learning, new nature inspired sounds, and more. After installing the latest update, users gets option to setup smart alarms that include weather info, connectivity suggestion for nearby devices and the flagship IoT platform for smart devices.

The MIUI 10.1 China Stable update for Redmi 5 Plus is released via OTA. So, users need to wait for couple of days to appear on each and every handset. Alternatively, users can also check the update manually from the path Settings > About phone > System updates. Make sure to use stable WiFi connection for downloading the OTA package.
The update is still based on Android 7.1 Nougat, so it seems users need to keep waiting for Android 8.1 Oreo. This is not really disappointing as Xiaomi is well known for slow Android updates.
Besides, the company is also rolling out the same MIUI 10.1.1.0.MXGCNFI update to Xiaomi Mi 4 in China. Initially, the update has been pushed to limited devices while more will follow in the coming days.
